Sequel to The Vampire King and The Phantom King....
Jason Alberich wears the crown of the sovereign of the warlocks, a dark breed that uses darker magic. He wears it well, skillfully wielding a power that would corrupt others. Yet he has paid the price for his control, bearing the scars of a time when his power had control over him. He is haunted by the regrets of a shady past and now lives each day and night with an isolated soul.
Chloe Septeran is an Akyri like no other. A member of a race that must depend upon warlocks for sustenance in exchange for servitude, Chloe runs from the dark magic users, choosing instead to live free of their hold. She has existed empty and “hungry,” but stubbornly free of the warlock’s dark embrace. However, now the fates have chosen to bring her running to a halt, as the 13 Kings each discover their queens – and the Warlock King discovers his.
A mighty power is awakening, wreaking havoc on the supernatural world. The 13 Kings, their queens, the werewolf nation, and the witch covens with their high leader, Lalura Chantelle, must band together and stand strong in the face of a dawning nightmare that threatens the very fabric of all they hold dear… and from which none may escape.
((The Warlock King is book three in the Big Bad Wolf spinoff series, The Kings))
The Warlock King The Kings Book 3 edition by Heather KilloughWalden Paranormal Romance eBooks
I just love any book Heather Killough-Walden writes. She has a wonderful grasp of the paranormal romance genre and has built an entire world of characters that exist in their own worlds and in the same world together at the same time. It sounds confusing but it isn't really. The King series is the follow up to the BBW "Big Bad Wolf" series and you see the same characters that were in that series in this series. Just like she pulled in the BBW characters for the Fallen Angel series because this is all in the same universe, she is a master at blending them together in this series as well. The Warlock King is the 3rd book in the Kings series, I would highly recommendation reading the BBW series before getting into this longer series so you know the different types of paranormal creatures as well as the hero's and heroines from the BBW series that will play substantial roles throughout the Kings series. I would also, always try to read these series in the correct order. The Warlock King, is starting to get darker, we find out a great deal more information about the main villain and his underling who has very strong types to The Vampire King from book 1 as well as the Queens are now starting to be under series threat. That is all I can say without giving too much away. The series gets better by each book so far. You will have your favorite couple or favorite king, hero or heroine throughout both combined series and you will find that your favorites will change as well. Have fun reading book 3 The Warlock King!Product details

The Warlock King The Kings Book 3 edition by Heather KilloughWalden Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!!! I cannot believe all that happened in The Warlock King. I began the book knowing that Jason was finally going to claim his queen, but I had no idea just how special his queen would be. Yes, so far Evie and Siobhan have proven that the women destined to be queen were special. But Chloe is even more special than I would have thought possible. And it is killing me not to say why. Seriously, the world may be lucky that Chloe has basically starved herself for most of her existence because once the truth of her Akyri roots were revealed, I can only imagine what her future holds. And it seems fitting that an Akyri as special as she would deserve an equally special warlock as her “partner” so the Warlock King is a fitting choice by the fates.
We first encountered Chloe in The Vampire King and I say encountered because she was there and gone so quickly it doesn’t count as meeting her. The Warlock King quickly rectifies this as we spend time with Chloe while she tries to figure out how best to avoid Jason and whether or not she really wants to. Fans of both the Big Bad Wolf series and The Kings series are well acquainted with Jason Alberich – the former leader of Dannai’s coven and the current Warlock King. While we have seen his character evolve over the books and definitely for the better, it is easy to understand why Chloe is trying to evade him. Once you learn the truth of what Chloe is, it’s even more understandable as to why she fears tying herself to ANY warlock, much less the Warlock King. But as Chloe is the woman who has been chosen to be queen (not by Jason, but he’s quite happy with the choice), her claiming by Jason is inevitable. Although both endure an extremely harrowing journey before the claiming, Chloe does a nice job of turning the table on Jason and this made for a highly charged erotic scene.
In addition to the Warlock King claiming his Warlock Queen, Killough-Walden gives readers more information on who is behind the attacks on the kings and a glimpse into what his plans are. I say a glimpse because we are only given a limited amount of information, so while some questions are answered, the end goal still looms. We also discover the secret of who was responsible for Ophelia’s turning and attacking the kings on the “master’s” behalf. The vampire’s identity stunned me to the point I had to walk away from my momentarily. But I couldn’t stay away long because the reason WHY we learned who he was freaked me out and I am ready to begin The Goblin King next because I have to know the fate of the mystery vampire’s latest captive. The Warlock King was another excellent addition to The Kings series that was an ever better story than I had hoped for and I had pretty freaking high hopes for Jason.
I reviewed my personal copy of this book.

I'm giving this book three stars because I'm enjoying the series - I find the story line different and fun. However, I had a really hard time with this book... I hope the next books in the series improve in the following the editor needs to do a better job - I don't think I have ever read a book that had the word "discombobulated" in it twice and both times referring to the same instance and character. I do not need to be told that Jesse is the Overseer more than once per book. The words "at length" are used twice, only one page apart, to start a sentence - the author is still on the same scene and she's using the same words over and over. The names of the characters are repeated too often in the narrative sections within the same paragraph... And, in many instances throughout the book, words were used that seemed as if the writer was looking for a fancier word than what was truly needed, making it seem immature. Also, how many times do we need to read that "physics" is altered or space and time are bent on the same book when characters transport?
The story suddenly ends... The book was not about Jason and Chloe as a couple.... I'm actually still trying to figure out what the book was really about.
Please fix it!!!! The story line for the series is fun and the writer obviously has a great imagination and I want to see what happens!!!!!
Every once in a while, you stumble upon an author and get hooked. For me, Heather Killough-Walden is just such an author. I first became a fan of her Big Bad Wolf series and now I am absolutely hooked on the spin-off series, The Kings. Not only does she create a page turning novel, but for paranormal lovers such as myself, she brings all aspects of the paranormal realm into it. Each one is am excellent read in and of itself, though best if read in order. One thing I really like about her series is how the villain in one book is the hero of another. But don't expect a knight in shining armor. These are definitely bad boys. They may have a heart of gold or a silver lining to their rough exterior, but those sides are mainly for their women. And the ladies are most certainly not shrinking violets. Nor are they easily swept off their feet. The men have to work not only to win the hearts of their queens but also to keep them safe from the danger that is threatening not just the supernaturals but the world as we know it. I can not wait for the next installment in this series to arrive.
